I’m a multi-disciplinary artist and writer based in Leeds, UK. You may know me from Leeds Poetry Festival, from one of my popular Watercolour Mushroom workshops, or from one of the various projects I’ve worked on with Left Bank Leeds.

I started Leeds Poetry Festival in 2020 to bring together all the amazing writing communities in the city and give people a place to share their poetry, beginners and experts alike. We are giving the festival a much-needed break to evaluate and pursue funding but we will return in 2025.

In the meantime, I am working on my first book of poetry and a novel.

Hello!
I’m Poppy-Lee.

My creative practice has developed a lot in recent years, largely prompted by my work at Beam Works, Left Bank, and Castleton Mill, after being given the freedom to work on creative projects, events and exhibitions. I have designed the interiors for canalboats for The Boat Co. North, curated events for short- and long-term projects in the city, and, most importantly, after a year of planning, opened the Shop & Printing Studio for Beam Works in 2022.

For my illustration work I have a particular focus on the environment, creating botanical and mycological studies in various mediums. I teach a series of classes each year in drawing, watercolour painting, and theme-focused art that encourages people to engage more in their own local environments and learn to be more eco-conscious. You can find any upcoming events in my calendar.

In my fine art practice, I am working on a series of paintings with a focus on mental ill health, wellbeing, and the claustrophobias associated with anxiety and depressive disorders. You can find paintings uploaded to Selected Works as and when they are completed.
